Welcome To Our Newest Trainer:
Barb Maduck

Historically, I was a nurse for 16 years specializing in Cardiovascular & Thoracic surgery. After several years of a difficult but rewarding career, I decided that I wanted to contribute my passion to help people at a prehab level rather than rehab. I wanted to support individuals to be accountable to their own health and hopefully minimize their health issues and therefore their entry into our very congested health care system.

I obtained provincial, national and international certifications in personal training, group fitness specialist, nutrition, life coaching and medical exercise specialist. I am in my 24th year of this extremely rewarding profession!

My biggest accomplishment is raising 5 children under the age of 5 1/2 years! Presently they are 30, 29,27, 25 & 24.
In addition, I have completed 19 full marathons (2 Boston marathons-2003 & 2008), over 40 half marathons and 10 km, and 2 ultra-marathons…’The Comrads’ in South Africa consisting of 91 km and ‘The Canadian Death Race’ consisting of 125 km and 3 mountain summits. I have completed 8 – 340 km mountain bike races and placed second in 2 body building competitions in the category of ‘Figures’ at the age of 50 & 51. My next scheduled  task is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of September/2016.

2 years ago, my accomplishments were taken away from me when I was involved in a car accident whereby my vehicle was totalled and the jaws of life were used to free me. I acquired 4 fractured vertebrae in my cervical and thoracic spine, 2 broken ribs, and severe brain trauma. The bleeding and swelling in my brain left me with symptoms such as a stroke victim. I had a very difficult time speaking and trying to articulate my thoughts….almost impossible. The pain in every body part was unbearable. I had ‘home help’ come once a week to help me shower…very humbling.

Rehabilitation was hard, exhausting and at times it felt hopeless. My story obviously has a positive ending, as here I am! I truly believe that my active lifestyle helped me to overcome my injuries and reposition myself to a quality life once again.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be your trainer at Orangetheory Fitness and to share my passion of empowering each and every one of you to be well and stay well.

I look forward to sharing my love and passion to all of you!
